Installation
- Added support in the v3.1 installer (Solaris and Linux Master only) to migrate user/session and data store configuration information from a v3.0.x installation.
In order to migrate successfully into a v3.1 master installation, the pertinent information must first be exported from a v3.0.x master installation.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The OpenSpirit administrator (account) for the v3.0.x and v3.1 installation are required to be the same. The export/import procedure will not work otherwise.
Instructions for export from a v3.0.x master installation:
- Copy the $OSP_v310/migration/migration.jar file into $OSP_v30x/external/OpenSpirit/lib directory
- Copy the $OSP_v310/migration/migrate.sh file into $OSP_v30x/external/OpenSpirit/lib directory, and set execute permissions (chmod 755).
- Shut down the v3.0.x master installation services (e.g., "runOSServices.sh stop")
- cd to $OSP_v30x/external/OpenSpirit/lib
- Issue the command: ./migrate.sh
Note: this will create a v30_export.xml file in the top level $OSP_v30x installation directory. You will need to supply this output XML to the v3.1 installer when it prompts for the XML file to import.
- Added support in the Installer for choosing between rsh and ssh remote start mechanism. (12946)
Tools & Utilities
Launcher
- Added support for starting the Launcher on servers with multiple network cards and IP addresses. (12835)
- Fixed a performance problem with Launcher startup time.
CopySync
- Fixed a problem when creating SeisWorks projects when the dir.dat directory was not accessible, not writable, or marked as read/only. (13192)
- Fixed a problem creating “bad” CDP values (e.g. 2147483648) when copying 2d lines from SMT to GF/IESX. (13317)
- Added support to copy both TIME and DEPTH datasets and display warning messages in the copy log if the seismic reference datums between source and target projects do not match. (12991)
Scan Utility
- Fixed a problem where a single "bad" volume would cause the ScanUtility to not generate volume outlines and live trace coverage's. (13182)

Known Issues
The following are the most significant issues known at the time of the release
of v3.1.0. The FAQ area contains an up to date complete list of all known
problems. The FAQ area can be found by going to the support section of the
OpenSpirit web site (www.openspirit.com/support).
OSP v2.x Data Key Migration Issues
- Data keys stored in Shapefiles and SDE using the v2.x Scan Utility are not
compatible with OpenSpirit v3.1.0 tools.
- Data keys stored in third party application projects populated with OpenSpirit v2.x, such as Petrel or
Gocad, will no longer be valid. Please refer to those software vendors for solutions to this issue.
ArcMap Extension
- Sending projected grids as a GIS grid selection event does not work properly at this time.
Workaround: Re-project the grid to lat/long and resend.
- ArcMap 9.0 SP2 will not launch the OpenSpirit ArcMap Extension (SP1 or SP3
is OK).
CopySync
- Cannot copy faults from IESX to OpenWorks 2003.
- GF42/GF43 Linux only - Copying log curves from any source to a GeoFrame target on Linux, the GF data server must be shutdown and restarted in order to display the log curve Top Index and Bottom Index for SHAPE_1D curves (only)in the DataSelector.
- Recall only - When Recall is the source project and all data is selected to copy (e.g. just the project is highlighted), only one wellbore gets copied into the target, and the name of the wellbore is the project name.
Workaround: Select all wellbores in the wellbore tab.
- If the DataSelector that launches a copy job is closed during the copy, the copy job is terminated.
- Copy performance with large projects may experience the following problems:
- The copy job can be affected by the location of the source project.
If copying from a PC project such as Petra or Kingdom, performance is
significantly improved if the project is local as opposed to a network
drive.
- The target data connector may experience memory problems when large
amounts of data are being copied. If this problem is experienced, it is
suggested to reduce the amount of data being copied and run multiple jobs.
- Cannot copy from OpenWorks/SeisWorks to OpenWorks/SeisWorks where the source
includes projects from the same data store configuration as the target.
Workaround: Create a mirror data store configuration to use as the
target. Please contact support@openspirit.com
if you need assistance with this workflow.
Coordinate Service
- OpenSpirit v3.1.0 does not support new EPSG coordinate system codes introduced in GeoFrame 4.4.
- The Rectified Skewed Oblique Mercator projection system is not supported.
Data Connectors
- Kingdom - Cannot create or display slice and brick volumes in Kingdom projects
- GeoFrame - when a seismic survey is referenced to a Local Coordinate System which is different from the Display Coordinate System of the project, the survey Coordinate System is not honored.
Windows Vista
- OpenSpirit Master installation are not supported at this time, only Satellite installations.
- Vista security "locks down" C:\Program Files which prevents some Desktop Admin tools from updating changes.
Workaround: Install into a directory other than C:\Program Files
- Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) must be disabled in order for the OpenSpirit viewers to work properly.
3rd Party Applications
- You may need to obtain a patch to run some 3rd party applications with OpenSpirit
v3.x. Contact support@openspirit.com
for information about compatibility with your 3rd party application.
