Dan received a BS in Mining Engineering with Honors from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1980. He worked for Exxon Minerals following graduation, and then joined David P. Cook and Associates, a software company serving the oil and gas industry, in 1982. In 1986, Dan joined Terra-Mar Resource Information Services as Vice President of Geosciences. Terra-Mar was a start-up software company focusing on technical computing in the energy and minerals industry. Dan was recruited to Landmark Graphics in 1989, and worked in a number of different capacities in that company, lastly as Vice President and General Manager of the Asia Pacific region, based in Singapore. In 1996, Dan joined Bell Geospace, a venture funded start-up that used military technology to collect gravity gradient data for natural resource exploration, as VP of Sales and Marketing. He was appointed President and CEO in 1999. In this role, he successfully accomplished the restructuring of the company in 2000. Most recently, Dan was a Business Unit Manager at Input/Output, running the Land Data Acquisition Systems group. Additionally, Dan currently serves on the Board of Directors of Petroleum Geo-Services, a geophysical acquisition company.
