OpenSpirit Version 2.5 Released with Dramatic Performance Enhancements HOUSTON - July 31, 2003 - OpenSpirit today announces the release of OpenSpirit® version 2.5. This version of OpenSpirit's data access and interoperability software contains significant performance enhancements in the access of well data and other data attributes. "We have seen more than a 100 fold improvement in accessing large numbers of well objects" said Clay Harter, CTO of OpenSpirit. "This release takes full advantage of emerging technologies by providing new developer libraries for COM and .NET in addition to Java and C++. We are committed to continuously improving our integration framework for both end-users and developers", he added. Concurrent with the release of version 2.5, OpenSpirit also announces the availability of two additional Subsurface Data Modules: SEGY (2D and 3D) and Gocad, which supports reading and writing Earth Decision Sciences Voxet data. "We are very excited to be able to offer access to this additional data" said Dan Piette, CEO of OpenSpirit. "This shows our commitment as the industry standard for data access and integration in the oil and gas upstream world. By expanding our datastore coverage, we are increasing the utility of all OpenSpirit enabled applications. We also intend on increasing the footprint of our data coverage this year", he said. Bart Stafford, VP of Sales and Marketing commented: "We currently have over 45 oil and gas companies using OpenSpirit as one of their primary data and application integration tools. With the performance enhancement available in this release, as well as our focus on extending data coverage into the drilling and production domains, we are delivering what the market demands for integrated and cross discipline workflows. Our approach to integration leverages our customer's existing investment in applications and datastores. This is a big step for us here at OpenSpirit, and we are very proud of this release."
