OpenSpirit Corporation licenses software for both end-users
and software developers.
These licenses are used by companies that wish to run OpenSpirit enabled
applications. Runtime licenses can be purchased directly from OpenSpirit
Corp. or through application software vendors who have signed up as
an OpenSpirit VAR (Value Added Reseller). Many software vendors who
are developing OpenSpirit enabled applications have signed up as a VAR
so that they may bundle OpenSpirit with their applications as a convenience
to their customers.
The key aspects of OpenSpirit runtime licenses are:
 |
Runtime licenses work on a "per concurrent user" basis (e.g. floating
license within a site) |
 |
Any number of OpenSpirit enabled applications may be run simultaneously
by a single end-user with only one runtime license required |
 |
A session may span multiple computers (e.g. OpenSpirit data servers
running on Solaris, and end-user applications running on Windows
NT and Solaris) |
There are two types of runtime licenses - Base Framework and Subsurface
Data Module.
Download the runtime product brochure.
The Base Framework includes generic services required by any OpenSpirit
Data Module or OpenSpirit enabled application and is required for any
OpenSpirit session.
 |
Includes OpenSpirit object services used by all data servers |
 |
Includes OpenSpirit Well, Section, and 3D Viewers (based on INT
J/GeoToolkit visualization components) |
 |
Only one Base Framework license is required per session for a
single end-user, regardless of the number of Data Modules |
The Subsurface Data Module implements standard business objects such
as wells, wellbores, logs, picks, 2D and 3D seismic, horizons, and faults.
Customers purchase the version of data module that connects to their
database(s) of choice.
 |
Multiple Versions
| • |
OpenWorks™ datastore version (supports reading and writing
Landmark's OpenWorks™ and SeisWorks™ data) |
| • |
GeoFrame® datastore version (supports reading and writing
GeoQuest's GeoFrame®, IESX®, and Charisma® data) |
| • |
Finder® datastore version (supports reading and writing
GeoQuest's Finder® data) |
| • |
Managed SEGY Seismic data (2D and 3D) |
| • |
Gocad (supports reading and writing EDS's Gocad Voxet data) |
|
 |
Includes all supported versions for the given datastore type (e.g.
OpenSpirit v2.5 Subsurface Data Module for OpenWorks includes data
servers for OpenWorks 98.5, 98.8, and 2003) |
 |
In a user session, only one license is required for a given data
store type, regardless of how many projects are being accessed |
OpenSpirit offers two optional add-on products to assist customers
in integrating their subsurface data with GIS systems: the OpenSpirit
Scan Utility and the OpenSpirit ArcView Extension.
Download the GIS Integration
Utilties product brochure.
OpenSpirit Scan
Utility
This utility allows users to scan all, or
selected projects, in an OpenSpirit supported datastore and optionally
output the well, seismic, and horizon shape files. These generated files
may then be viewed in ESRI's GIS products or any GIS product that can
read these standard GIS formats.
OpenSpirit ArcView
Extension
This utility is a custom ArcView extension that allows ArcView to
be used as an OpenSpirit enabled application to send OpenSpirit cursor
location and object selection events. This extension works with the
GIS files generated by the OpenSpirit Shapes utility.
CopySync Utility
This utility offers easy to use one-step data transfer between
OpenSpirit enabled datastores. Select data geographically (using
the Openspirit ArcView Extension) or via attribute attribute queries
from one or more projects and then transfer the selected data to
a destination projects. CopySync does the required unit and coordinate
transformation and documents the data transfer in a web browsable
log file.
Excel Adaptor
This utility allows users to listen for OpenSpirit data or object
section events and then automtaically pastes desired data attributes
into Excel. This enables a variety of ad-hoc reporting and data
reformatting tasks to be performed in a tool, Excel, that most users
are already familiar with.
A Developer's License is required in order
to develop applications that make calls to the OpenSpirit Framework.
Licensees include commercial software vendors, system integrators, and
internal oil company technology groups. An Application
Connection License is required in order to deploy an OpenSpirit
enabled application in productive use.
Download the Developer Kit
product brochure.
Every developer that uses the OpenSpirit developer's kit requires a
developer's license
 |
Developer licenses are sold on a "per named developer basis" (not
floating licenses) |
 |
Allows development on any supported platform (Solaris, Windows
NT/2000, IRIX and Linux) |
 |
Includes source code for 100+ example applications in Java, C++,
VB, and C# to illustrate usage and expedite development |
 |
Includes required CORBA and CORBA services developer's licenses |
 |
Includes all runtime modules (Base Framework , Data Modules, and
associated viewers) for use by named developer for development and
testing |
 |
Controlled by flexLM license keys (userid of developer must appear
in the flexLM option file) |
 |
A royalty is due when an OpenSpirit based application is deployed
in productive use (not just testing) |
 |
Two models
| 1) |
Internal use (within an oil company or for internal service
use)
| - |
Based on concurrent user (any number of internally
deployed applications) |
|
| 2) |
For resale
| - |
Based on concurrent user's license of the application |
| - |
Pricing is based on the application's usage pattern |
