Are you ready to join the world of integrated workflows?

OpenSpirit has a free 30-day evaluation program that allows you to install and use our integration framework in your office with your data. Our world-class support group will assist you in the install process if necessary and answer any questions you may have during your evaluation period.

Please review and follow the Pre-Installation steps outlined below to prepare for the install process. When you are ready, fill out and submit the form on this page to receive your evaluation license.

OPENSPIRIT PRE-INSTALLATION STEPS

These steps should be reviewed and performed at least 1 week prior to installation. Otherwise the installation process may be delayed.

  1. Check recommended hardware requirements.

For the "master" server installation, we recommend:

Solaris:

  • a Sun Blade 1000 or better with at least
  • 2GB of available memory and
  • 1GB of available Swap running Solaris 8 or 9. You will also need about 350M of disk space for the OpenSpirit runtime software.

Linux

  • 3 GHZ Pentium 4 (or equivalent)
  • at least 2 GB of RAM
  • 80 GB SATA disk drive and
  • standard graphics card for Windows PC.

Windows (v3.x only):

  • 3 GHZ Pentium 4 (or equivalent)
  • at least 2 GB of RAM
  • 80 GB SATA disk drive
  • standard graphics card for Windows PC.

If your are installing OpenSpirit v2.x you need to identify an Oracle instance and a minimum of 100M of disk space for an Oracle table space used by OpenSpirit. This machine, or any of the client Solaris machines where OpenSpirit will be run, need to have disk visibility to the OpenWorks, GeoFrame and Finder project data and binaries

If you will be installing client installations on Windows , Linux, or Irix , locate those machines, and then make sure that they have network connectivity to the Solaris machine where the OpenSpirit server installation will be made (e.g. they can “ping” it ). If you would like further recommendations or have any questions, send email to support@openspirit.com.

Review the latest Release Notes for certified Oracle versions and Operating System versions.

  2. Check required operating system patches.

We recommend that you run the checkPatchLevel.sh script on the UNIX Solaris system where you intend to install the OpenSpirit Server installation. This is the patch level that OpenSpirit has been certified with, however, they are not necessarily required to run the OpenSpirit Application. If you have any questions send the results of the patch check to support@openspirit.com. Note that any Solaris client machines where you want to run OpenSpirit may also require these patches.

  3. Gather information about your project or corporate datastores (GeoFrame / OpenWorks / Finder as appropriate) and supporting Oracle installation(s).

During installation you will be asked some questions regarding the configuration of these products. The installer won't let you continue from one step to the next if you can't enter the correct information. It is recommended that you download the PreInstallation Checklist which outlines instructions for installation and configuration of OpenSpirit.

Note that each Oracle instance that is configured to be used with OpenSpirit will need an account created. You can create this account during installation or prior to installation by executing the OSPCreateUser.sh script using an Oracle DBA account (i.e. an account such as "system").

  4. Create an Oracle table space (version v2.x only).

This can be completed during installation, but you will need an Oracle DBA account to create the table space (i.e. an account such as "system"). If you do not want to create the table space during installation, you can do it before you start the installer by executing the ADSCreateTableSpace.sh script. Then during installation you will reference this table space so you will need to know the name of the table space and the account that was created in the above script that can access this table space.

  5. Download OpenSpirit.

Click on this link to download the latest OpenSpirit product. The password is the same as the serial number that is used at the beginning of installation. If you don't know this serial number, please send an email to support@openspirit.com. You can download the server and client installations from this page. If you are updating an existing installation, you can also get it from this page.

  6. Obtain a License file.

Fill in all the required information on the form below and press submit. Our support group will send a 30 day evaluation license to you by email.

To obtain the hostid on the supported platforms use the following:

  • Solaris: run "/usr/bin/hostid" from any xterm window
  • Linux: donwload the FLEXlm lmhostid file and run it in an xterm (./lmhostid)
  • Windows: download the FLEXlm lmhostid file and run it in a command window

  7. Begin the Installation.

If you have any questions during installation, need any help, or run into any problems, send email to support@openspirit.com.

Please complete the following information and an evaluation license and download instructions will be sent to you by email. If you require an install CD, please enter your physical address information below and one will be mailed to you.
