• Unit - convert between 900+ ISO/POSC standard scientific units
• Reference Value - transform between different datastores' sets of allowable values
• Metadata - provides information on what datastores and projects are availabel in a site
• User Alias - provides information on the correspondance between userids and different computer systems
• Notification - gives applications the ability to share user interaction and data change messages across computer systems

These Shared Services are run as a daemon process on a Linux or Solaris host designated during the OpenSpirit master installation in a site.

In addition, the OpenSpirit Runtime bundles some reusable user components including :
