How can I tell my User Server to start my data servers on different machines?

You can set preferred hosts for your data servers using the OpenSpirit launcher. Use the Server Activation tab on the launcher to set preferred data server hosts. The preferred hosts can be set differently for different data store installations. This information is saved in your User Profile, so you only need to set it once. When it is set, the UserServer will honor the preferred host setting upon the UserServer's activation of a data server and until the setting is reset or changed. Use the OpenSpirit launcher to change or reset the server hosts.

Why does shutting down my UserServer shut down all my data servers?

Shutting down a UserServer will cause it to issue shutdowns for all per-user data servers known to that UserServer. The per-user data servers rely on resources that are provided by the UserServer, so there is no point in leaving the per-user data servers running if the UserServer is stopped.
